Podcast: Play in new window
I have had the pleasure of knowing Sally Clarkson for some time. She has been a blessing to me in my motherhood journey as I’ve attended her conferences, read her books, and gotten to know her personally. Over the years, Sally and her husband Clay have written 14 books to encourage others on parenting, discipleship, and living well in and for God’s Kingdom.
Sally is someone who has lived their life well and she is stopping by my place today to share a few of her lessons learned.
In addition to her chat with me, Sally has also shared her wisdom in her new book! It’s a must read.
In Own Your Life, Sally comes alongside the reader and encourages them gently as she talks about what it means to live meaningfully, follow God truly, and bring much-needed order any chaos they may be experiencing in their everyday life.

Hello! Sounds like a great read. I would love to win a copy of Sally’s book! Blessings!
I would love to win this book. It looks like a great book that will really help in my journey:)
I love Sally’s books… Thanks for highlighting her!
I’m looking forward to meeting you next weekend!
Some days I feel like I am owning my life, and other days, I am in survival mode. My plate is pretty full right now, so I have to stop myself and slow down, thinking about what my goals really are, and how I am living for Christ.
I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your messages this weekend. My friends and I just loved you! And we were super thankful for the breakfast vouchers you gave us
U are WELCOME!!!
Hi Chrystal! I’m going to be flying in to hear you speak in Colorado next week. I’m so over-the-top excited to meet you. Am I owning my life? Well, my life is approaching a fork in the road, or a new stage as my older kids are approaching adolescence and we’re doing more activities and running around. My parenting has changed so much since I’ve read Sally’s books, and I love that she focuses on faith, not formula. As my job is changing, I feel like God is leading me to something new, but I’m moving forward with such hesitation because I am so afraid of stepping out of God’s best for me for the purpose of my own ambition. I’ve been praying often, asking God to make things clear to me. The thought impressed upon me during those times of prayer is that what I need to be doing at this phase in my life, more than anything else, is fixing my eyes on Jesus. I don’t know the exact steps I need to take, but I am realizing that when my eyes are fixed on him, I don’t have to step forward in fear. I don’t have to strain my eyes to see the path, I need to focus on the Shepherd.
I love in the concept in this book, about how a well lived life is made up of well lived days. One of the things that hit me as I was working through it last night was the question: “Choose this day whom you will serve.” I think there are areas in my life that I have been slacking, and making excuses, in the name of grace. Here I’m focused on these big decisions I need to make, and when I go to God, asking for guidance, he keeps bringing up these small things that I have not been obedient in doing. The little things add up, and become the biggest things. Great podcast.
Super excited to pick up this note before bedtime. Even more excited to have been able to buy the book when it came available in January. Further comments once I’ve listened to the podcast
Africa greetings, stay blessed
I have listen to your podcast weekly and LOVE it. I am so excited to have another one to listen to this week. I can wait to hear more from Sally and would love to read the book. I always love your recommendations. they are awesome.
I really enjoyed listening this this afternoon! 🙂 Thank you!
I am definitely looking forward to reading Sally’s book!!! I’ve been fasting to hear the Lord in regards to what I should be doing with my life and how to enjoy my seasons as they come…
Can’t wait!!!
Wow! Talk about something that was much needed. In all honesty i don’t think I’ve been owning my life and hearing Sally share about her and living in the tiny town. I’ve been allowing my circumstances thank you I know now that I am not the only one feeling this way!.
Wow – that was a great interview. Will listed to it again. I love how she talks about to accept the season that she was in and I find myself always rushing to the next one (not even knowing what it holds) instead of accepting where I am and trusting God.
I have a verse that I wrote down yesterday to memorize and that is Ecc 3:1 For everything there’s a season and a time for eery matter under heaven” ESV.
I am slowly learning that and let God take the wheel.
Am I currently owning my life? A great and piercing question and one I never really thought about. Then the obvious answer is no and time to figure out why.
Loved the interview and hope to get a book.
Myriam
Isn’t Chrystal the best interviewer? I love how she thinks. Can’t wait to see you next weekend, Chrystal. We shall have lots of fun and I know you will inspire as you always do. thanks for this.
I love how the Lord uses you and women like Sally Clarkson to remind moms, like myself, of His great love for the ministry we do in the home.
Awesome interview. I can’t wait to purchase the book. What resonated with me is embracing whatever season you may find yourself in because you won’t be able to move forward until you’re content where you are. This has given me confirmation and inspiration to bloom where I’m planted.
Wonderful interview! I’m working on owning my life but would love to have this book! In a really hard season of life right now. Have 3 grown children & 3 grandchildren living with us & no one in our household has a full time job right now. My husband lost his job almost 6 months ago! Would appreciate your prayers! Thanks!
I would love to read this book. I would to be empowered in living out my purpose. I believe this book would be a start and a blessing!
Great interview!
Now I want the book.

I’ve already hear so many great things about this book! Fingers crossed to win!
“Living by faith means believing in God enough to take the risk and move forward.” I love that this goes right along with what I have been trying to live out through our MOPS theme this year, Be You, Bravely. Own Your Life…good stuff! Listening to the podcast now. 🙂
Would love to add this to my personal library!
I’ve learned a lot from the things I’ve read on line from you and Sally. I’d love to win Sally’s book! I’m going to listen to your podcast now. I really enjoy them and the fact that I can listen to them while doing dishes… Bonus 🙂
