Podcast: Play in new window
I hate clothes.
Yup. It’s true.
If I didn’t have to wear them, I wouldn’t wear them at all.
As far as I’m concerned, clothes are a hassle and thinking about getting dressed stresses me out.
But it’s “Funday” Monday!
The point of today’s podcast is for me to chat about whatever I want to.
And today… I want to talk about F-A-S-H-I-O-N and why what you wear matters.
Why in the world would I be doing a podcast about fashion?
‘Cuz I need help that’s why.
So enlist help I did.
I’m so excited to be doing my first podcast interview!!!
(Yes this is my first podcast interview so please pardon the technical glitches!)
And who is my distinguished first guest?
MY SEESTER!!!
She is a fashionista for REAL ya’ll!
I’m grateful to have a sister in my life who not only takes pride in her appearance but who enjoys helping me work on my own.
If you ever see me looking dressed and wonderfully put together… it’s probably because she styled me.
Seriously…
And I’m grateful.
Priscilla has fantastic and practical tips for all of us – whether you love shopping or want to R-U-N in the opposite direction of the local mall. Can’t wait for you to listen in as we banter about the wonders and woes of what we wear.
In today’s podcast we will explore why your thoughts about your appearance are important – whether you like to shop or not. Did you know that your appearance could affect your ability to share your life with others? Did you know that it’s perfectly O.K. for you to be a fashion flub? Were you aware that little money doesn’t leave you without options?
Practical sister. Today is sooooo practical.
And it all starts with how you think about it.
Believe that you are worth a little time, energy, and money. Understand that it is a good thing to present the best version of yourself when you can. Grasp that putting forth effort on your own behalf is O.K.
Change the way you think. Then you can change the way you live your life!
It starts in your mind people!
You can change your life by changing your thoughts. ~ @ChrystalHurst
This is true in the area of what we wear too.
Whether you like “fashion” or not.
Hey… let me tell ya. I’m not a shopaholic, diva, or fashion forward thinker… but I had a great time chatting about this topic. And if I enjoyed talking about clothes for more than a few minutes, then you know it was a conversation worth having! Enjoy!

Good stuff! Listened while I was getting dressed for work. Confession- I pulled out my iron from way back in the linen closet. Hubby wanted to know if something special was happening at work, ha!
That’s great Tex! Makes me smile 🙂
Thanks for keeping it REAL and also making it clear that it’s not about the amount of money spent. Also, very practical; realizing that we need to invest in some things especially if they are for longterm use. Awesome points! Now off to find someone with my body type so I can shop where she shops too… amen!
No it’s not about the $. I’ve tried to make it that though. Tried to blame my look on money to spend. Oh… but then I’ve seen plenty of people who don’t have lots of money in the bank make sure when they step out… they STEP OUT. I hang my head in shame. Gotta get it together!
I do not love to shop for me BUT I love to shop for others. I’m usually the one my friends call on to put their outfits together for trips, interviews and dates. I’m the one they love to see come to their closet but hate because they know I’m going to put to pasture certain articles of clothing that no longer serve a purpose. Being a plus woman, I’ve learned to find what “fits and flatter”. Honestly, I’d rather shop online because there are better options than going to the limited stores that are me.
Where do you shop online? I’ve been too afraid to do that. I figured that if I couldn’t find stuff that fit in the store… how in the world was I going to do that online?
My top 3 Faves:
Asos…true to size
Forever 21 ( Plus Size)
Elloquii
You can also have itens made on Etsy. People with make items to your measurements…most reasonably priced.
Thanks!
Love this podcast! Great girl talk, really good tips and encouragement. Start somewhere is what i heard multiple times. I think discourgement is something that can be overcome when we just start somewhere and take steps at a time, it can make such a huge difference! Accessories are absolutely a major hitter in spicing up casual wear. Today i’m wearing a simple black A-line skirt with a simple black top with cutout designs along the top and i put on a cute pair of colorful drop earrings and colorful shoes. My husband said i looked fancy this morning, and i was just aiming to look professional and non-frumpy ;-\ :-)….Enjoyed the chat ladies, do it again sometime!
Sharon G.
Great tips! Thanks!
Chrystal…This podcast is so real and funny….plus I’m still laughing about the nose picking thing 🙂 Personally, I think what I wear really matters. Working in the business profession, the motto is “Dress for Success”. I was converted from wearing t-shirts, jeans and sneakers to now dress suits and heels. That was scary at first… I loved my comfy clothes…lol. Now dressing up is fun and it gives me a chance to express myself without even say a word. Looking forward to hearing more podcasts!
Maybe one day I’ll think dressing up is fun. Until then. I’ll let Priscilla have fun :)…
Excellent! Very valid points. I agree, you just feel better when you make an effort and when you stay true to what YOU like. Wear what’s beautiful to you and you’ll feel your best; nothing more needed.
Could I maybe just borrow your sister? 😉
LOL!
Great Podcast and funny!…I like to shop for shoes and not clothes..lol
Yes… me too. My feet don’t have as many idiosyncrasies as my body does… LOL!
I just Love Love to shop and dress. Chrystal your podcast and blogs are the “Greatest”….I must share with my girlfriend…
Thanks again!
Please do! Thanks for listening!
Totally great Podcast, BUT I could have done without the replay of the crinkled up booger!!!!!!!! You know I had a bad experience wtih that!!!!
